What is Advanced Electrolysis?

Electrolysis has been used for over 100 years to treat, reduce and remove a wide range of skin blemish types – from common warts to more complex conditions such as Sebaceous Hyperplasia, Seborrheic Keratosis and more (see below).

Today, electrolysis technology has progressed to advanced levels, using Thermolysis current, which gently lifts or cauterises the affected epidermis. Depending on the scale and type of skin blemish, electrolysis can sometimes bring immediate results, while others may take several sessions over a period of time.

Advanced electrolysis for a wider range of skin blemishes

Elaine has been an electrologist for more than 30 years, helping clients of all ages to overcome the challenges of problematic skin conditions and unwanted facial hairs. In addition to common warts and skin tag removal, she uses electrolysis and other technologies to treat more complex conditions and lesions. The comprehensive list below includes the skin blemish types that benefit most from advanced electrolysis at Clinique Matrice.

Blood Spots | Skin Blemish Removal with Advanced Electrolysis

blood spots

Blood spots are benign skin lesions, typically found on the body, neck and back.

One of the most common skin blemish types, blood spots can have many causes, including pregnancy and diabetes and can appear as we age.

Treatment for blood spots is fast and straightforward with advanced electrolysis.

Campbell de Morgan Blood Spot | Electrolysis Skin Blemish Removal

Campbell de Morgan (Large domed blood spot)

These are benign skin lesions formed of dilated capillaries and post-capillary venules. They are typically found on the body and face, caused by a range of factors, including chemical exposure, pregnancy and diabetes and as normal signs of aging skin.

These types of blood spots may require more than one session to fully remove. Elaine will assess your Campbell de Morgan blood spot and talk you through your options during your free consultation – contact us to book today..

Skin Tags | Quickly Removed with Electrolysis

Fibro Epithelial Polyps (Skin Tags)

These are benign skin lesions formed of loose collagen fibres and blood vessels. They are typically found on the areas of the underarms and neck. Commonly caused by friction, they can be removed or reduced, depending on the initial size.

Skin tags are fast and easy to remove and for some, there is an immediate removal of the skin tag (pedunculated). Non-pedunculated skin tags shrink immediately following treatment and the resulting scab will drop off.

Filiform Warts | Advanced Blemish Removal

Filiform Warts

Filiform warts are typically found on the face and around the mouth. They are HPV-related and may require follow up sessions to address fully.

They are complex-looking warts, slender in shape and commonly made up of multiple projections.

Advanced electrolysis is the perfect treatment for these types of protruding skin blemish and Elaine can completely remove these highly contagious warts.

Milia | Treat with Advanced Electrolysis

Milia

Milia are the small, often hard white bumps found around the eye area.

Caused by excessively dry or oily skin, milia can sometimes be the result of inadequate or poorly advised skin care regimes.

They can also be a result of excessive skin cells, which trap sebum. Sebum can be easily dispersed using advanced electrolysis – a fast and highly effective treatment.

Pigmentation | Reduce the Appearance with Electrolysis

Skin Pigmentation

Pigmentation of the skin is a common symptom for many during the natural aging process. It develops as a result of the excess production of melanin and appears often as a ‘freckling’ effect on the back, hands, arms and upper body.

The appearance of pigmentation can be reduced with advanced electrolysis, but not permanently addressed, so maintenance is typically required following initial treatment – annually or as required.

Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous Hyperplasia occurs when there is an overproduction of sebum, causing oily areas of the skin.

Typically found on the face, these skin blemishes are a collection of dilated sebaceous ducts with a central dip – forming into a donut-shaped lesion on the surface.

Advanced electrolysis can reduce the appearance of this skin problem and Elaine can help you manage the condition over time.

Seborrhoeic Keratosis

These skin blemishes are often brown or black, sometimes a lighter brown. They are non-contagious growths that are linked to the natural aging process, but with no known cause.

Often quite large in size, these types of blemishes can typically be removed altogether with advanced electrolysis.

Elaine will assess and advise and talk you through the process.

Spider Naevi | Minimise with Electrolysis

Spider Naevi (Spider Veins)

Spider Naevi are collections of small, dilated blood vessels that typically cluster very close to the surface of the skin.

They can be stubborn to address and commonly require several sessions but can be reduced dramatically.

They can be caused by several factors, including trauma, pressure, extremes in temperature, sun or changes in hormones.

Xanthelasma | Remove Using Electrolysis

Xanthelasma (cholesterol spots)

These skin blemishes are soft yellow clumps of cholesterol that collect and deposit just under the skin. They appear on the upper eyelids and are commonly found in people with high cholesterol, cirrhosis or Hyperlipidaemia.

The appearance of Xanthelasma can be dramatically reduced with electrolysis in Elaine’s expert hands.

How it works

Skin blemish removal entails the use of Electrolysis at a superficial level, making it fast, effective and safe. We will only remove certain blemishes and only when it is safe to do so. This is why a consultation is important, to determine suitability.

During treatment, an extremely fine needle is used to channel the thermolysis current, which either cauterises or lifts away the superficial epidermis – particularly fast and effective for skin tags and other protruding blemishes.

For some treatments, results can be immediately noticeable, while others may take a few days or weeks for results to show. This depends largely on the particular skin blemish. Aftercare needs will vary, and we’ll talk you through them during your consultation.
